How can I make the track-pad work with the keyboard on windows 8?

The track-pad seems to be disabling itself while I am using the keyboard, which I guess is to stop mistakes being made. This does not, however, help with gaming. How can I fix this? I've looked in the control panel but couldnt find anything, Help?
